1. British racing-car manufacturing company
started by Frank Williams in 1969 when he
modified a Brabham BT26A. The first Williams
Grand Prix car was designed by Patrick Head
in 1978 and since then the team has been one
of the most successful in Grand Prix racing.
Alan Jones captured the world title in a
Williams in 1979 and other champions have
been Keke Rosberg 1981 and Nelson Piquet
1987. The team captured the Constructors'
title in 1980-81 and 1986-87.
